Wellbeing Mentoring

Wellbeing mentoring offers a supportive space to talk, reflect, learn and explore what may be getting in the way of confidence, wellbeing or personal development.

At The Tycho Retreat, mentoring is shaped around the individual. For adults, this may involve exploring challenges, patterns and practical ways to create positive change. For children and young people, sessions can also have an educational focus, supporting learning, confidence and personal development in a way that responds to their individual needs.

What is Wellbeing Mentoring?

Wellbeing mentoring provides dedicated time and space to focus on you, your experiences and the areas of life or learning where you may want support.

Rather than following a set programme, sessions are shaped around the individual. We might explore confidence, emotions, relationships, routines, goals or situations that feel challenging. With children and young people, mentoring may also include educational activities and strategies designed to support learning, communication and personal development.

The aim is to help you develop greater understanding, recognise your own strengths and find practical ways forward that feel achievable for you.

How can Wellbeing Mentoring help?

People come to wellbeing mentoring for many different reasons. You may be struggling with confidence, feeling overwhelmed, finding it difficult to manage change, or simply wanting some support to understand yourself and what you need.

For children and young people, mentoring can provide a calm, individual space to develop confidence, explore emotions and build skills. Where appropriate, sessions can also incorporate learning activities, helping to make education feel more accessible, engaging and manageable.

Whatever brings you to mentoring, the focus is on working together at your pace, recognising what is already working and finding practical ways to move forward.

Welcoming space for wellbeing mentoring at The Tycho Retreat

What happens during a Wellbeing Mentoring session?

Every session begins with time to check in and talk about what you would like to focus on. There is no set format or expectation — sessions develop around you, your needs and what feels most useful on the day.

We may spend time talking and reflecting, explore practical strategies, or use activities to help you understand your thoughts, feelings or experiences in a different way. I also draw on techniques from my Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, using CBT-informed approaches where appropriate to help explore unhelpful patterns and support you when you feel stuck.

For children and young people, sessions may also include educational activities tailored to their individual needs and interests. The aim is to create an engaging and supportive environment where they can learn, develop confidence and build skills at their own pace.

In-person and online mentoring

Wellbeing Mentoring sessions are available in person at The Tycho Retreat in the West Midlands and online.

Online sessions offer the same dedicated one-to-one time and can be a convenient option if you live further away or simply feel more comfortable working from your own space.

For children and young people, we can discuss whether in-person or online mentoring would be most appropriate for their individual needs and the type of support they are looking for.

Session length and cost

Wellbeing Mentoring sessions usually last 60 minutes.

Adult Wellbeing Mentoring sessions are £40 and offer dedicated one-to-one time to talk, reflect and explore practical ways forward.

Educational wellbeing mentoring and tutoring sessions for children and young people are £30 for 60 minutes and are tailored to their individual learning and wellbeing needs.

Is Wellbeing Mentoring right for you?

Wellbeing mentoring may be helpful if you feel stuck, overwhelmed, lacking in confidence or would simply value some dedicated time to explore what is happening in your life and what you would like to change.

You do not need to arrive with a clear goal or know exactly what you want to work on. Sometimes recognising where to begin is part of the process, and we can explore this together.

For children and young people, mentoring may be suitable when they would benefit from individual support with confidence, wellbeing or learning in a calm and encouraging environment.

“Toni understands his needs very well and adapts her lesson plans accordingly. She is friendly and approachable but manages to keep him on task whilst accommodating when he needs to take a movement break.”
